If you’re looking for that perfect Platinum shade, don’t trust your tresses to just anyone. Use an expert as this is a very technical process. “The trick to getting just the right shade is to bleach all the hair out to remove the natural pigment.” says Peggy, “You can’t go too light or you will “break the hair.  You stop at a pale yellow shade, then tone it to get it to the right color and to remove the rest of the pigment.” 

What’s trending lately is the use of glossers as toners. There's no ammonia or harsh ingredients in it. It’s much more nourishing for the hair. It gives it nice sheen and makes it very soft.  This color requires good upkeep such as masks and conditioning treatments to keep it looking healthy and shiny.   

In case you are wondering about how much this costs, average highlights cost between $110-$175, and includes a gloss, while platinum will run $150-175 first time and then $120 a month to maintain it.  That said, there are a lot of variables depending on the amount, condition and color of your natural hair.  If your hair is lighter, it’s a simpler, less expensive process.
